Flukemaster rides again

Post by Barry Island on Wed Sep 09, 2009 1:44 pm

After a lengthy break got down to the South Hams again for a spot of spinning sporting a natty new pair of waders enbling me to get about a bit more - boy did I sweat a bit though!!! Betty swollocks isn't the half of it. Anyway made it to the mark accompanied by a mate from Manchester who hadn't been fishing for nigh on 30 years. Set him up with an old reel and carp rod of mine before getting started myself. First cast and blimey I have a fish on - nice 2lb 3oz Bass pictured below. It was a real wriggler hence the vice like grip, I always seem to get spiked!!! I am a jammy so and so. Anyway 2 hours later I hadn't had another touch but Ian gets into his first fish ever caught from the shore - result!!! A decent Bass but not a keeper so it went back. Bit of a scrapper the underpowered reel on the carp rod sounded like a coffee grinder as the fish was brought in through the surf and is a write off now. Never mind - another Bass, avoiding a blank and a result for a guest angler in lovely scenery.
