Right then if you have a choose of a carp brand to buy. Cost matters so are you paying for the quality or are you paying for the brand name? Please put your opinion. Surprised Surprised

It has always been my opinion that the top brands are over priced BUT on looking into the history of some of the brands and the amount of effort put into developing tackle and methods that could enhance your fishing if used correctly and in the right situation I can see that this kind of dedication does not come cheap. However I do think that some of the plastic items (safety clips etc) can be over priced even if they are precision made. Would I buy Korda, Gardner or a less expensive brand? Well I think that I may mix and match, I am not too bothered about which brand but I have been doing some research as to which brand we will stock in the shop and Korda seems to have an edge as far as development of carp fishing is concerned.Maybe not that helpful Lamby, I use a lot of the SMART tackle and EAP products which are relatively inexpensive brands and am totaly satisfied with the quality of their products but I do accept that the brand names tend to have new innovative products that these guys tend to follow suit on so I think we need to carry both branded and less expensive ranges in the shop to satisfy all anglers.I have not voted as I know that you want the opinion of our customers and not me so come on guys, cast your votes and help Lamby out here.

Gardner tackle is very good, I have been impressed by the subterfuge flourocarbon as its very supple and i have a gardner baiting needle which is good. The Korda leadclips and swivels are good but I must say I do like gardner. ESP seems to be good gear too.

OK guys, the Carp section of the forum is used the most yet this topic seems to have fallen a bit flat. We have placed Gardner tackle in the shop but I am still interested in what your thoughts are on end tackle.

my view on this is that I think it depends on the particular water you are fishing, for instance if your going to a real runs water then I would go for the cheaper stuff, on the other hand, if your going to fish a water where the carp are known to be wary NAFA for instance, then i would go for the more expensive stuff, like martin says these fellas have put a lot of research into this sort of gear & quality comes at a price

if your going to sit on the bank at NAFA & lob a bright silver lead with a white safety clip out i think most people know you wont stand a earthly chance of putting fish on the bank, personally i would go for korda here, despite what a lot of people say about old danny fairbrass he has definately done his research in the camo of end tackle
