One of the top group of carp fisheries has just banned leadcore after one of its revered carp was found tethered and dead. I have used leadcore in the past but recently moved over to sinking rig tube with the sound knowledge that if the fish breaks me off the tube will be pulled of the line along with the weight.

I have spliced some leadcore up to work with chod rigs but these are fished helicopter style so again if the fish breaks me off the rig will slide up the leadcore and eject it away ...

Being an avid carper, i'm always on the look-out for new, more inventive rigs in order to catch the bigger carp.

Obviously, we've all used the famous "hair rig" But is there something new on the market?

It would seem that Korda, Esp, korum etc, etc.......have all taken the hair rig formula and simply added a twist.

Yes, i know that the hair rig is a tried and tested design that works but, at some point the carp will wise up and move on!

I use two jrc defender 12ft rods with two cypry6000fs reels. used to have two fox

10000fs but didnt like them too much was i paying for a name??????

There is an interesting debate going on at the Rods & Reels forum and I'm sure CH won't mind me raising the issue here. Jack The Carper is looking for a decent yet priced for a 17 year old bivvy and I wonder what thoughts you guys have on bivvies. Do you use a full bivvy og the new pram hood style or a more traditional dome shaped bivvy. Do you have a shelter for day sessions that can convert to a bivvy or do you just use a brolly.

After spending some time on another angling chat forum, i'm slowly starting to think that we carpers have a very poor name!

Unfortunately, because we use optonics we are considered "lazy" by other anglers (pole fishermen) in particular!

Because i choose not to sit with a five hundred foot pole between my legs, it makes me no less a fisherman than them!

TF butting in here on Lamby's post (hope that you don't mind Lamby). We have an opportunity to take on more space which may help our wholesale operation and enable us to increase the display area of the shop. It would allow us to display bivvies, shelters, beach buddies, chairs beach tri-pods, carp pods etc which we are unable to do at the present time. they have now been banned from almost every forum I know for simmilar reasons, some of the other names they have used in the past include.....dragonfly1, magpie, pinhead, bushy & popup

As you may know I am an avid reader of the fishing comics as I want to gain as much knowledge as possible about this sport. Once you get through the crap (no I havn't misspelt is (see me in the shop if you don't get that one)) of using a certain manufacturers lead, line or hook there is some good information on a lot of articles BUT I do wonder about the best way to go for Pike .

I could experiement but you lot insist that I open the shop all day every day to be here at your beck and call ...

The reason for me to bring this up is coz dad now thinks he's a gentalman because he fly fishes. (PRAT) lol

I know soon we are all going to do a session of fly fishing and some peoples opinion will change after but until which tell us your opinion on the matter??

What is your favorite fish and why?

My favorite fish is the roach because it is easy to catch in big quantities and are good fun. Also can be found in most rivers and lakes. They can also grow to 4lb plus as proven by Ray Clarke (http://www.tackletek.co.uk/ray_clarke.htm) and i would rather catch one of them than a 10lb common any day of the week.

Please tell us all what you favorite fish is and why

We may have an opportunity to bring in a selection of ingredients for anglers to make their own base mix and therefore boilies. There will be a choice of fishmeal, kelp (interesting) and seed base as well as a mix for paste. We may also be able to get a range of fast breakdown pellets - 25 minutes in warm water! Is this of interest to anyone?

Chris is busy experimenting with boilies and will soon be bringing in a range of TF Frozen Boilies. If you want any specific flavour and size rolling ...

I was reading this and thought no has asked the question "what is your favourite carp bait?"

I know some people are a bit funny when it comes to talking bait but the whole point of the club is to help each other out and to talk about what helps us catch fish!!

I personally don't have a favourite bait or flavour i just like anything that stinks which I think is why I fish with Kev and Jason quite a bit (lol ). Squid sticks and I have caught my PB on squid paste. But I fish ...

Just bought a kilo of Mainline Pulse freezer baits yesterday. The first time I've tried the flavour as I'm used to using the pro active pineapple or the maple-8.
