Wreck fishing from Brixham
Had the pleasure of a wreck fishing trip out of Brixham on Kelly's Hero last Saturday with some friends from Weston. Skipper Dave and his crew mate looked after us well. We had great weather, plenty of tea and coffee was served throughout the day and plenty of space on board for our party of nine to fish comfortably.
The time passed all to quickly. We stopped on the way to pick up mackerel before heading out to the
wreck.
We drifted the wreck and were kept busy. Various lures were used, all seemed to work OK, then we
anchored off the wreck which gave us the opportunity to try and
entice some of the larger residents.
I had to smile as one of the lads hooked into conger of about 40lb and broke into a sweat trying to persuade it to come up to say hello, which it eventually did. Don't know how he'd cope with a proper conger
Highlight of the day (for me) was
seeing a couple of bream come aboard, one around 3 and one really nice one at 4.2 unfortunately no bream for
me this time.
We stopped off at another wreck on the way back in but the direction of tide and wind made it a bit difficult to remain on station so we fished off Berry Head for the last hour.
Everyone caught fish and went home happy, well most of us did. Bob the old timer of our motley crew having caught the 4.2 bream got a strop on when two of the lads nipped off to get some chips before we set off home and didn't bring him any back. They did offer him a chip when they got back but did not carry out his instructions on what they could do with their f*in chips!
Apparently he sulked throughout the 80 odd miles back to Weston
I often chat with Martin about getting a group of locals together to go out, but as is often the case it's difficult to organise, times dates etc.
After talking with Martin I've suggested to Dave Saunders (skipper of Kelly's Hero) that he might like to join the forum. Hopefully he'll pop in and set up a thread where he can keep us updated with what fish are being caught and any spare places he has so people can take the opportunity to get a trip out without having to wait to get a complete group together.
Bob's bream (Bob has been cropped out cos he has man boobs)

Hope Dave won't mind me posting this unusual beastie (Ribbon fish) that was caught on his boat this weekend.

Re: Wreck fishing from Brixham
Great report Flip and you have wetted my appetite for a boat fishing trip.
I'll create a link on the forum for local (South West) skippers and see how many are interested.
